Entry 1: Reading Response Pages 16-43 “Harmony was the soul of our companionship, and the diversity and contrast that subsisted in our characters drew us nearer together.” This was one of the only quotes in the pages I read that I could understand. I feel like I could understand it because love is a somewhat universal language. I understood that Dr. Frankenstein was in love with his wife/adopted sister. So far just about everything I’ve read was him talking about her. I feel like the trend is going to continue. Later in the book I think she is going to die, and he’s going to make a monster to replace the love of his life. Dr. Frankenstein reminds me a bit of a fool that's in love. I have a feeling that the majority of the story is going to revolve around his love for his wife. I feel like she is going to be one of the driving characters in the story. In all honesty there relationship makes me slightly uncomfortable, for crying out loud the guy married his sister. That really shows that something is up in his mind. I feel like that is an important detail, it shows that he is missing a few marbles. |
